So, in the past month, there have been two parties at my house.
Turkeypoluza II was a huge success. Several things were proven: 1) both of my ovens can heat up to 500 degrees at the same time (proven by external thermometer). 2) Cooking 45 pounds of meat at the same time is pretty awesome (two hams, and two birds, all done the Alton Brown way). 3) My house can seat 35 people for a feast at one time. *boggle* This is pretty cool. This event was the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
Christmas Caroling was also inverted this time to become a party at my house (which was tonight). There were probably 30 or so people total at the house, and we broke up into subgroups to sing different carols (lyrics and whatnot were provided). This is a huge departure from the normal way that my mens group does caroling, but I thought it was fun. It needed a little more polish on the planning/execution portions, and a little more good will on the part of a few members would have helped, but all in all, it was a good time.
And even better, I might have been able to hook someone up with a job, just by introducing them to someone in the right context. Now if I could just do the same for my girlfriend…
