So, it’s interesting being in the 2-week notice land.

My boss doesn’t seem to want to look me in the eye.

I’m spending a lot of time talking about past and future, and trying to impart a few useful reminders/lessons to the people I’m leaving behind. Should be fun to try to get some people up to speed on Python… enough to handle the code I’ve written here… (the good news is that the code is pretty stable at what it’s doing…)

I’ll add more thoughts as this time goes on… I’m sure.

What the heck made everything so expensive?

Replacing a dinky retaining wall? I got quotes for $2k and $3k.

Windows? Quotes for $10k and $20k ( )

Now updating the insulation in my house… it’s probably going to be $1000.

Now, I just need to get into the subattic with a flashlight and see how much schmutz my ex-roommates have left in there…

So, I didn’t really finish my thinking in the previous article.

Apple has dropped ‘computer’ from their name. Instead of ‘Apple Computer Inc’, they are now ‘Apple, Inc’, to indicate that they are more than a PC maker. This matches their more recent ‘lifestyle’ type products (ipod, iphone, etc)

So, what will Apple do next?

They’re going to want a market where the current market options suck.
They’re going to want a market that’s technology driven.
They want a market WHICH MAY BE A NICHE MARKET, but if the trendy people are doing it, then they want in.

This isn’t a new thought, but Apple isn’t a pure technology company.

They’re a Style company. Their goal in almost all things is to be so hip, you can store a side of beef in there.

So, I don’t know where they’re going next. But it’ll probably be two years before it happens… they seem to like having new stuff every two years (the last ‘revolution’ was the Mac Mini, which came out in Jan of ’05).
