Well, one year ago today, Sandra and I both took a day off from work, to spend some time together. We went to see Cars, we went out to eat, and we came back here to play Super Smash Brothers Melee. Then we talked for a while about our past, our futures, and we agreed to start our ‘dating’ relationship. Though we did keep it on the DL from the parents for a few weeks.

Today, after a year together, and 2 months of being engaged, we celebrated. Sandra got me Mario Party 8, we went to an estate sale, bought a chair for the living room/future library, ran a few errands, and then PLAYED some Mario Party 8, and then went out to dinner.

To MF Sushi. Which is one if the top 3 sushi restaurants in Atlanta.

One word: YUM.

Spicy Tuna Tartar (not for the faint of sushi heart), followed by some sake, some nigiri (including Otoro  ), and a lobster roll (which was very good as well).

Then we went to Jeff and Adriene’s Baby Shower.

It was a great day. A little productive, a little relaxing, some good celebrations. And best of all, was spending time with Sandra.

Almost perfect days don’t come around often enough. But this was one of them.

So, I got engaged over this past weekend.

So I had double-faked Sandra by telling her I wanted to help her celebrate her 1 year anniversary as a Catholic. So I took her out for a one hour massage.

After that, we went to Perimeter Mall here in Atlanta, so I could buy her a dress for that night. She knew we were going out for a nice dinner, so we went, and spent several hours looking for a nice dress. We also got a tie for me to wear that night. She also got a brief makeover from one of the makeup counters.

Afterwards, we went over to Ruth Chris Steakhouse. It was funny though, the person seating us asked if it was a special occasion. I had a quick answer of “Just trying to make a special night”. I’m not usually that quick on my feet, so praise God for that.

After dinner (their porterhouse for 2 would feed at least 3.5 people, by the way), we came back to my house. Now as some background, she and I both LOVE this game called Blockus (and Blockus Trigon). Think of it as a multi-player tetris board game. I had taken the time to spell out ‘Will you marry me?” in both boards a few days before. Believe me… doing that in Trigon took me more than an hour. So I had set up my kitchen table with 4 candles on the corners, and some rose petals, and the two games with the tops on, so she couldn’t see the writing. When we came up stairs, I asked her which version she wanted to play, and she picked Trigon. I asked her to take the top of the box off, and after she read the question, she turned to me (I was on one knee with the ring). She said ‘Yes’.

There are even a few pictures here.
